I've installed RAid 0 on a xp desktop several times but it will be my first time on a vista laptop. Whats the best way of doing this (less time consuming) , I'd like to do a clean fresh install of vista but would i be losing all the extra applications that came with my laptop and actually what would i be losing?? Would i be able to contact gateway and get those missing applications? Loving this laptop

First make a restore disk, and a apps/driver disk before you setup raid. After you make your app/driver backup you will be able to install your app's again after doing a clean install with your Gateway System disk (Vista) it is the disk that came with your laptop. Look in your manual it details exactly how to setup raid, it is very simple, you start by enabling it in your bios, reboot, pick your options, riad 0 or raid 1, then install your os. That is a brief explanation I hope it helps.

If you have a Gateway P FX type, you just plug it into the empty hard drive bay, you should have matching hard drives to setup raid yours came with a wd 5400rpm 250gb

they might, the only apps you might want would be the webcam, which you can download at the gateway support site. The rest of the apps are junk anyways, trail versions of norton antivirus, ect. Just get AVG anti-virus, its free and works better without being a system hog.
