Just wondering if I have to pick up the exact same hd that is in my to-be-delivered p-6831fx to run Raid 0? Obviously they would be the same speed, but perhaps not cache...

A related question. I have a 100gb 7200rpm laptop hd and am debating getting another one of those for Raid 0 or another 250gb 5400rpm to have more storage. I can make it with 100gb, but I wouldn't mind having extra storage for movies, mp3s, etc. Would the 7200s in Raid 0 be noticeably faster, since gaming is my primary activity on the laptop?

RAID wouldn't be terribly faster for gaming, as most game data is cached in the RAM. Having more space is likely your better option.

Okay, how about this: I have a 7200rpm 100gb drive. How about, for warranty purposes, I use the 250gb 5400rpm drive as storage (leaving Vista installed), and the 7200rpm for my new OS (gonna switch to XP) and my programs?

Question about this: Do I need to set the master/ slave, so that my 7200rpm will be the OS, or is this done automatically when I put it in the first slot? With Vista installed on the second HD, I want to make sure it boots from the XP drive.
