I've had my 7805u Laptop for a little over a month and haven't had much trouble with it. ((I've had it turn back on after i've turned it off. . .weird)) Since this laptop can run the games of today at high settings I find it tempting to push it to it's limits while gaming on it. Besides gaming I use it for movies, websurfing, and documentation ((writing)) so gaming is the most stress I put on my laptop at any given time.

The games I play are Mass Effect, Fallout 3, Crysis, and Elder Scrolls Oblivion. All these games minus Crysis I can run rather high settings without hitting a performance barrier except Crysis. Now I know Crysis is a hog for using up a computers resources but, sooner or later games will get closer to this range of gaming and I will have to upgrade my laptop when this happens.

Whenever I upgrade a computer I always like to overdo it a bit. I want my upgrade to last until it is so out of date it's almost laughable. With what I've mentioned what would be in my best WHATED interest to upgrade my laptop? If I have left out any details that may help please ask.

Lots of upgrades for 7805, just do a forum search for:
CPU upgrade to T9800, T9900, X9100(Processors), GPU OverClocking(Video card), WIFI card and adding ant(intel 5300), bluetooth, DVD to blueray, Vista tweaks like changing boot up time and shutdown time, CPU/GPU coolers(undervolting, thermal paste and fans) probably more that is a start.

Added: I did the Blueray player upgrade LG GBW-T10N from this link
    http://nunetherlands.wordpress.com/upgrade-your-gateway-fx-p-series-laptop-with-a-blu-ray-drive/
    and have it working through
    http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=9004258&type=product&id=1218007841283
I can watch my blueray movies on my TV through my laptop wireless.

A CPU upgrade might be what I'm looking for. Doesn't the 7805u only permit up to 3 GHZ for cpu speed? If that being the case the T 9800 would be the best value out of those three. Is overclocking the graphics card all that needed? It's pretty high end and can handle graphics on the current high end games very well. And doesn't gateways bios make overclocking harder than it needs to be? I've actually undervolted my 7805u already. Got a good 10 degrees knocked off it doing so.

Blueray might be a nice add-on. I like using my laptop as a media center on the go so I'll keep that one in mind.

ES Processors are Engineering samples right? I have no idea what the other one means. And I'm looking for a processor that will run my games at a fairly high setting with little slow down. I intend to upgrade the processor only once so I'd like to get a processor that will last until I replace it. Which should be two years at the least. ((I'm hoping longer as I like to run my tech into the ground before I replace them))

    Check this link out: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=235824

This is a guide that will show you step by step how to undervolt. It's fairly easy to do. Just takes sometime but it's very worth the time.

    Good luck.

OEM Processors - never used brand new
ES Processors - stressed tested, and used by person to get final tolerances.

That will be good for me to know when I look for processors. Thanks.
