Tigerdirect and Tigerdirect.ca are now selling refurbished P-7811FX's for $689.97USD and $857.97CAD respectively. I just got my refurbished P-6860FX last week and it's spectacular, but I may exchange it at Tigerdirect Canada for the P-7811FX. I got mine with 2-year extended warranty and it seems neither Tigerdirect sites are offering extended warranties at the moment. I called Tigerdirect and asked them about it and said they'll call me back with the warranty situation and see if they just haven't updated the websites with the warranty info. If the warranty is transferable, I'm really thinking about switching over. Any thoughts? Any benefits to keep my P-6860 FX if the warranty is transferable? Is the only real difference the HD-size? Doesn't the 7811-fx beat it out in all other aspects?

Looking at the specs on Gateway.com, everything is better on the P-7811FX except it has no bluetooth, and a smaller sized HD. Better resolution/memory/cpu/gpu. Am I missing anything else? How does the P-7811FX run temperature wise? My P-6860FX runs pretty much ice cold after I undervolted it.

I think that would depend on which run of the 7811s these models would belong to. Some of the initial buyers were rather displeased with heat, gpu issues.
    You didn't miss anything.

An owner of both has commented that the 7811 feels less well-built, but I couldn't say.

Just search tigerdiect while on live.com, it'll link you to tigerdirect with cashback link, follow onscreen instructions. That's what I was lead to believe anyway. I can't use it personally since I live in Canada. :(

If you used live.com, there should be a screen that asks you to input your cashback live ID, before allowing access to TD. If that didn't come up, try again.

Well, In all honesty, If your job was to buy/sell computers online for a living and you saw these laptops for this price, wouldn't you jump all over them? Not trying to take sides here or anything, but he has stated before in earlier threads that this is his job, seems like a great place for profit.

I had to give them my drivers licence, social, utility bill showing my address and a 1 hour talk on the phone to be able to get all 12. They are not shipped yet so I can not say that I will be able to get all of them. We shall see. Since I'll be selling them with updates and stuff, overall price you will see on ebay is not going to be a bad deal at all. How about a 7811, with x9100, with raid 0 320gb 7200rpm hdds, blu-ray drive, free laptop sleeve, free wireless optical mouse, free shipping for $2000?

yea capitalism is great. so $2000 is a good deal? considering a x9100 goes for around 400-450 and a 320gb 7200rpm hd is 100 or under...
so 750+450+100= 2000??? yea the 700 u profit for selling a out of warrenty laptop is a good deal  ... edit, sorry didnt notice the blu-ray and other misc stuff, so you profiting around 500ish?
So, roughly a 5k profit, sure is nice to make $ by stealing a savings that was supposed to be passed on to consumers..

How about you let others get on a good deal next time, Economy is tough now, people need a break on deals not people trying to be greedy. If you sell computer parts for a living, I would assume you have a wholesalers that can get you good prices...

Hmm.. go find a x9100 for $450 then finish that statement.. Ali makes a profit of roughly $100-250 per unit. And honestly, considering the time he invests..that's a great deal for anyone looking for a solid system. When I bought my 7811 when it first came out, I dropped $1300 on the system, $1088 on the x9100, and $200 on 2 HDDs. That did not include any accessories, but it did cost me $2700-2800 when including tax. So, personally I'd say $2000 for the same system is a GREAT deal. Especially since it will be tweaked when delivered. Oh, and on a side note.. businesses are in business to make a profit, and if you're worried about a tough economy then you shouldn't bash someone looking to FEED THE ECONOMY. Thanks for your time, and I hope you manage to read this post.

done, and I've seen plenty of other x9100's go for 400-450 range.
I'm not going to bring it up anymore. I just see him being a bit greedy, I wouldn't care if he bought 5, not 12. Or if he even offered to resell to fellow forum membres at a $100-200 profit. But he's not and like you said he's here to make a profit, thats fine....

And don't make it look like its a great deal, maybe to some, but it's not that great. People should know the true cost of it and cost of upgrades. Im one of the lucky few that got an order in, total cost for me to get to x9100, 320gb raid0 hdds, would be around $1400 and I'd have the original 200gb hdd to sell or whatever for a bluray drive. Snapping in a cpu and 2hdds in is not "time" intensive either.

It may have cost you that back then, but now is now and everything you bought then is around half price now, except the hdds. And how is he "feeding the economy"? by price gougeing people?

...ok end of rant, apologies if I seem upfront, I'm just tired of people buying up everything and charging so much on the resale during these hollidays, I really wouldnt care during any other time of year...

lets say that if you buy it off alitunay , with all the modifications he does (he will not include original cpu, original hdd, original dvd drive) you will never get any warranty, having read about more than few people that got a partly to unusable machine from tiger direct (heat problems, bad lcd, broken keyboard, unplugged fans, bad leds , etc) it does not strike me as a bargain.

so you will end up with highly modified messed up machine with no one to fix it.
since he bought 12 there is a good percentage that some might be actually good. i reckon it is basically a bet.

with tiger direct you know what happens if its does not meet your expectations, lets hear what alitunay has to offer. in my book, 7801 off newegg sounds a much better deal.

as one can read from the above post, living in a capitalism does not necessarily translate into swine fondness.

a mere opinion, no facts stated.

My 2 cents - 1) he had the same opportunity as everybody else to get the systems at that price, and 2) TigerDirect allowed him to purchase the 12 systems...because he asked/tried - the same thing anybody else had the opportunity to do.

...and as long as they are sold As Is and it is clearly stated...I see no issues with the "lack of warranty".

Does it suck that everybody who wanted to get in on the deal didn't? Yeah. Does it suck that everybody who wants to win the lottery doesn't? Yeah. (analogy is a little off but close enough to make the point in my opinion).

    Hi guys,

I bought 14 in total and Tiger Direct was not limiting the number of items for sale at the beinging when the deal first came out. I understand that you are trying to calculate my cost and how much money I may make on each computer. Tiger sold more than 1500 units. I took 14. What is the big deal. Who took the rest of them? Do you want to mess with customers, ebay policies, paypal policies, riddiculous fees etc, be my guest. I am making money if I sell these for $2000, yes but I am working to earn it not just light up my camel lights and wait for the money to come in. Each computer takes me 4-5 hours to cash. Installing an x9100 on these computers is not that easy as you know the heating issues. I sometimes have to apply AS5 5 times on one computer to get it right. Plus, when you change the HDDs you have to reinstall the computer and putt the drivers in. And guess what it takes me another hour or so to do that since the DVD comes with the computer does not have any of the drivers. 1 out of 5 customers is just pian in the neck. They buy a computer and after a month I get a charge back from paypal. I loose more than what I make on that computer which cuts into my overall profit. If you don;t have any idea about how it works don't blame someone who puts alot of time and effort to make it happen. Plus I have to invest alot of money to get this inventory. I am payting interest on that money too. Yes, you may be able to build this system for around $1500 but then you will have to buld it. Plus you will have to do all of your ordering and stuff. I am paying an average of %6 fees on each transaction. I also give free Fedex shipping which costs another $40-50. So do you still think that I am ripping people off? Especially the Royk50 guy. You came to me asking for one for $750. How am I supposed to make money if I am going to give to you what I paid for it plus, I need to pay ebay fees? If I am not going to make any money why would I do all this work instead of just sitting on my a$$ and playing the latest computer games?
Also, you all have computers, right? You already got ripped of by someone wither this is a retailer or the manufacturer because they all work for profit.

    Just a reality check.

Man, I had to go through this rigmarole of being asked a ton of honestly kinda invasive security questions before they'd ship my order. Now it's not coming in today but on Monday. I feel some of your pain. Still, at least I know that the tiger is secure as all get out. Either way, woohoo, $1400 laptop for $750 in refurb condition.

It's a free market and as always don't buy if you don't want, but sheesh getting on someone for trying to make a living in whatever capacity legally?

    Wow....

Who care if he bought ALL of them. If you want to get on somebody, get on Tiger for not limiting them to 1 per person so everybody would get a, "fair shake."

You're right, times are tough, but obviously if you have $800+ to throw at a notebook, you truly aren't hurting in the capacity many are atm.
