    Hello everyone,

I am a new user here and broke my laptop keyboard while trying to clean one of the keys the other day. The space bar key broke, so I had to get a new keyboard.

I just installed my new keyboard, which works great except for one problem. It automatically starts to type at the welcome screen when i try and enter my password. I have to wait for it to finish typing and then press enter. After that it gives the usual you did not get your password correct box, and then i re-enter my password and I am able to log on.

The only way I found out how to stop it is right after the windows logo is loaded and it starts to go to the welcome screen to hit either the PRTSC/SYSRQ button or the Pause Break button.

I know this is not normal to have to press these buttons for it to automatically stop typing. I also tried re-seating the connection on the motherboard of the laptop and that has not helped.

Can anyone solve my problem? I am running out of options. Thanks :)

    TanWare,

I do not know which key it is, but when i plug my old keyboard that has the broken key it is fine.

I did however find a way around the problem, yet it is very annoying. If I press the Pause Break key after the windows logo is displayed then it will not type automatically.

As far as I can see, there are no stuck keys on the keyboard, since i am typing to you just find right now. I do not think the port is damaged since I tested it with my previous known good keyboard.

This keyboard cost me $56 and I think I will just live with it unless you have other suggestions to fix the problem. It only happens at the windows welcome screen and not when i am logged onto the OS. I could make my username not have password, but then just anybody could log onto my computer and I would not want that.
