    I've been trying to scour the forums for a good recommendation for a replacement for my current AC Adapter. It's making really irritating high pitched sizzling noises and gets really really hot. Links I found are all dead unfortunately :( Any advice would be very much appreciated!

    Allot of people use the Targus 180 watt adapter on the 78xx
    amazon is a good place to score one.

    Has anyone tried to RMA a powerbrick? My power brick is making the same hissing sound but not all the time, just some of it....

    yes, a few people have complained to gateway and got them to send a new one (but the hissing is fairly normal tho,my 7811 brick hisses every now and then since i got it 10 months ago)
