    Running KILLDISK on my 7801u

    Well I got the copy of Vista 64bit SP1 I ordered from Newegg for my old HP and after doing a test run on my HP dv9035nr, I am currently running KILLDISK to erase my hard drive and start with a fresh (no bloatware) Vista install on my Gateway 7801u.

    I didn't even bother making restore DVDs, since I would never want all that crap back on there anyways. I am ever so slightly concerned that Gateway still doesn't list any drivers for the 7801u on their website but after how smooth the install on my HP went I am really not concerned about drivers.

    Microsoft definitly cleared up most of the issues with driver support and such with Vista.

    Everything in my old HP was up and running smooth with just a Vista 64bit install, the only driver I had to install was the new DOX 180.77 drivers for the GPU. I was very pleased.

    Will post back when Killdisk finishes and I run the install... still 1:04:50 left on the HD erase timer..

    Vista up and running smoothly :)

    Installed DOX 180.70 drivers...

    3DMark06 (1280x1024) Stock GPU Speeds = 8815 Score (Temps 50,70,49)
    3DMark06 (1920x1200) Stock GPU Speeds = 7070 Score (Temps 52,72,51)

    Clean install increased score by 142 not too bad :) Hate Bloatware :)
