I'm just wondering on the p-68xx fx systems how is the video quality when running games at a lower res. I have a 22in lcd and when i try and run anything but the native res the video quality looks like puke. Some lcd's i know do it better than others.

The reason why I'm asking is because I am hoping to use this system for some future lans and byoc's so I don't have to haul my massive desktop around. I play cod4 and I run 800x600 res when playing so I can get 125fps with a fps config. Do you think I could get that with this system?

you can max it out, everything maxed, at 1440x900

I also just got a 32inch Samsung LCD, and it runs max on 1080i just fine

I'm shooting for a constant 125fps and this isn't maxing everything out. certain maps you need 125fps to do certain jumps and stuff.. i know the quake engine is wierd :)

i don't think you can tell the difference between 30fps and 60fps. why do you need 125.

The laptop is powerful enough games at the max native resolution. I haven't tried running lower on the laptop's display as 1440x900 is low enough as it is IMO.

You can tell the difference between 30 and 60, but I can guarantee that you won't see a difference between 60 and 125 (Due to 60 Hz refresh rate).

The only reason to push for such a high frame rate is if there are extreme highs and lows in fps. That way a 125 could drop to 60 and you wouldn't be able to tell, compared to being at 60-80 and dropping to 30-40. But if you're gonna be running at such a high fps, you might as well turn v-sync on to cap the fps at 60 fps to reduce screen tearing.

If you want a sharp picture, you have to run native OR set your video card to "Do not scale". This will place black borders around a smaller picture that is native resolution, but whey sharper..but higher FPS.

Running in "window mode" will take a hit on performance..
