Hey guys, just got my 7805u after weeks of research on here. Question I have, should I download the sp2 update before creating a recovery disc? Does it matter?

    Thanks

No, there's no need to do that. You can burn the recovery discs as is.

Good question. I assume if you make the disk after SP2 the recovery would then have SP2 on it. That would be preferred if true. SP2 is not a long update so no harm either way.

The recovery is essentially just a default installed image. If it is installed on the computer is irrellevant to the default image. This is actually a good thing as the default image is supposed to be a safe image and if updates were alowed to install there then it may no longer be a "SAFE" image.

So one may simply be able to save the image somewhere if the drive can be un-hidden. I wonder what format the image takes. If it is in some common format then it could be burned later if needed. Mine usually go the way of fresh install so I've never bothered looking for or at it. Dell, HP, all of them use this procedure. I suppose they all use their favorite format.
