Hi there,
I bought this notebook yesterday and was assured in the
store that it has SVideo In (opposite to other notebooks
in the same price range). Actually it was the major reason for me to stop on this model, because I'd like to transfer my
videotapes to computer and sometimes to use a laptop's monitor as a second monitor for my desktop computer. After opening it today I found out that this SVideo is a regular "OUT".
Does anybody in this great forum knows what is the cheapest solution for these tasks (videocapturing and second monitor) with Gateway MX7515 ? Thank you in advance

the easiest way is a usb device such as a Dazzle (comes with pinnacle quickstart as well). It gives you both RCA and S-vid in. I dont know of any laptops that have s-video in... maybe like a media center or something but otherwise its just for displaying on larger screens, etc. The Dazzle will run you about 70 for a decent one.. there are some nicer models too that have both inputs and outputs. ATI also makes an All in Wonder tv tuner that has s-video in and RCA in, as well as a co-ax of course. Thats about 100 bucks. So pretty much its gonna be a usb device but that doesnt mean it have to be bulky or anything either.

Have you heard about KWORLD XPERT DVD MAKER?
People say that it may be even better than Dazzle
