I have a laptop with a 260m gtx and then a different laptop alienware with a 260m gtx would they have the same video card bios?

I am wondering if I can flash the extracted alienware 260m gtx video bios over my 260m gtx video bios because my 260m gtx video bios does not allow its bios to be readed/extracted but I can force write to it.

They may not have the same vBIOS but in your case it would be fine to flash the AW BIOS from the other laptop.

so pretty much since they are the same card the only thing that would change are voltages and clocks depending on manufacture and flashing 260m gtxs from different machines is ok as long as they are the same card? (of course ill change the clocks and voltages)

Yes as long as it is the same card and not a different revision then you are good because like you mentioned, only the voltages and clocks will be different.

im no where near qualified, but I would be interested how it faired against your custom GPU BIOS TANWare and stock, when dealing with temps, performance, and OFC, those lovely BSOD's!

I use the stock bios. The modded one out there is someone elses. I use 9c.17.00 with win7 with the legacy drivers when I had the 7805 board and no BSOD's. Yes I did have to use the legacy 1394 driver.

Wth the P79 I have o issues at all with Win7/8. I have heard others with issues but this seemed to relate to the P79 having issues with USB devices. I did notice one of the USB ports is under powered.

My next system will most likely be a clevo/sager. I might sell this one but not sure what it could fetch............................

My only issue, other than one under powered USB port, it the Mushkin SSD when cold will not post to bios. It hangs on the DST post so you let it sit for 30 seconds then power down by holding the power button. Once you power it back up it posts fine. If you sleep for too long a time this can be an issue as well. I so rarely shut down I forget about this.

The SSD power down existed on the P7805 too so it is the SSD not the main board.........................
