I have a Gateway P6860FX with a screen that shows the desktop in a split screen mode and it has a gray tint. I bought a new screen and replaced it but it didn't help. What else could cause the screen to do this? Inverter? Graphics card?

    Image attached.
    Thanks

I have seen this happen where the video driver was set to the wrong resolution and/or refresh rate...............

Hey my 6860 started that today. I haven't made any changes or driver updates.

    Did you find the fix?

I'll check out TANwares response in the meantime.

    update

Its not the driver since its like this as soon as it boots. So I'm thinking either the screen or video adapter is bad. I hooked up an external monitor and I can't switch to it. So I'm thinking the adapter is bad?

Any ideas on confirming? Is the video adapter replaceable?

If it does this at boot, ie bios level screen, then there are definate other issues. Unfortunately the video card itself is not replacable.............
