    Hi,

I want to replace my p7809g screen wich is a WXGA -1440x900- LCD with a Full HD LED one... is it possible? and is there anything that I'd be worried about?

    Thanks,

Edit: I've found a 17.3" LED screen (don't know about the resolution)... will it fit in??

While a full HD screen may be possible the inverter will not support the LED backlight..................

So it's a lost cause for the LED... :/

As for the 17.3", will it fit in the screen case?

It's true that inverters are not needed for LED displays but there are some sort of cables that allow LED displays to be used in CCFL-designed notebooks.

The inverter gets bypassed and it's handled in some other way. Sorry for being vague but I simply don't remember nor do I have the time to research this right now.
All I know is that it has been possible for Aspire 6920G and I contemplated doing this change.

If you can grab a cable designed for your notebook it would work.

A 17.3 or 1920x1080 will not fit. The only 17" LED 1920x1200 I can think of off hand was the dream color HP 8730 screen. There may be outside converters that alow a conversion of 1CCFL to LED but then too this is an IPS screen which with a deeper color depth etc may have issues as well.................

So if I understand... there's no hope with a LED screen?? I will look for a Full HD LCD screen then!

the P78xx WUXGA 1920x1200 should work. There was another here quite a while ago that claimed success with this replacement...................
