I recently replaced my cpu in my Gateway 6860FX to a T9300. It runs beautifully, however, out of the blue, my laptop has started overheating when gaming. I've ran the stress test on the cpu, and it doesn't overheat when doing that, only when gaming.

Anyways, I decided to check my thermal paste, however my screws are stuck. I know I did not over-tighten them when I replaced them as I always check after screwing them back in. I'm wondering if they are melted in?

Also, the laptop has been cleaned of all dust and hair, so the only other thing I can think of is the thermal pad possibly? Can I replace it with thermal paste if I can manage to get the screws out?

The thermal pad wasn't in that great of shape, but I didn't have anything to replace it with here, so I left it in place. I'm thinking about replacing the paste on the GPU as well. It seems to be running a little cooler at the moment after another blowing out of the fans. I'm still concerned about the screws being stuck on the heatsink though.
