Are you kidding? You want to sell a laptop that you can get for ~$1150 from Tigerdirect.com?

He's found a sucker, why not?

I would sell, then buy another one and pocket the extra.

Sure, you found a buyer for $1600... Don't you have some ethical problems with ripping off the guy? Whatever floats your boat... If you want to find out what to replace the 7801u, then go to the Notebook discussion forum. This forum is only for Gateway machines. We don't talk about Sager here.

So I don't recall asking about ethics in my post? Just opinions on what I should buy. The sager was a suggestion. I wasn't looking for you feelings on the subject masked just what people would suggest as an alternative. Why people show emotion on forums and cause drama I'll never know.

I don't really care if you asked about ethics or not. That's really shady man.

Shady or not, this is what's happening on probably about 75% of all transactions on eBay. In fact, this business model transcends well beyond eBay. To single this guy out is kinda silly when we're all getting shafted out of better deals on things we buy everyday. The guy who's buying this for $1600 is paying for what he perceives as convenience. If he were really that concerned about it, he'd do his homework. We all would, on everything we buy. But we don't.

I tend to not sell to anywhere outside of my country (US). I've been scammed from someone in Great Britain before. I don't think it matters location, scammers are everywhere. But % of getting scammed is higher if outside of country.

I just called him and said I wasn't sure about selling it. Because I Didn't want to do all the work installing software on the new one and he just upped the price from 1600 to 1800...I showed him one on eBay that was going for 1549 same 7801u I had and he didn't want it because he wants mine knowing its perfect. So I might just do it....

I don't really see what the Sager has that the FX doesn't. If you were going to an SLI laptop that'd be one thing. But to go from 17" mobile processor single 9800 to another 17" mobile processor single 9800 platform seems...moot?

I honestly think OP was just trying to brag about how he found a sucker. If you've already set your mind on this purchase decision then why bother asking? And for the record I would either a) keep the FX or b) save some more money and get something with SLI/Corssfire or go with one of the new 15" laptops with the 9800gt in them.

I'm not singling out this guy. He just happens to be here. Even if a lot of other people are doing it, it's still shady. Also, just because someone else doesn't know that they are being charged an unreasonable price doesn't mean it's ok to do it.

I clearly showed him other offers on ebay and he refused along with best buys 7805u. He states that mine is perfect no dead pixels and is brand new. Besides I cant be shady when I show other sides as I stated before showing him the ebay one.

Well, you sounded like you were convincing the buyer that the laptop is worth that much. If he's willing to be ripped off and begging you to do it, then by all means sell it. However, I don't think it's worth buying a Sager or another laptop that's over $1500 since it's a moot point unless you really are a hardcore gamer who needs a powerful system to take to LAN parties. I have yet to find games that I cannot play at 1920x1200 (except Crysis) on my 7801u. Just buy a brand new 7801u and keep the $500 savings for something else.

The new sager NP5797 has the GTX 280m so you really wouldnt be going to the same thing, Better preformance and more future proof.. I'd sell at the price you were offered..

Well currently I'm trying to help him get rid of his alienware lappy m17 version. Its the one with dual 3870's and its just horrible; sound is going out subwoofer doesnt hit at all, and there is a dead pixel in the dead center. I played with it a bit and drivers are just hard to find. Right now hes calling them for a refund and they are refusing. =S I dont know what to do for him since they gave him a crappy lappy and dont want to refund it. He doesnt want it fixed only refunded. Sooo right now hes in a pickle..

Still helping him...might be a few days. I think he wants to trade me if he cant return the m17. So then I'd have to sell the M17 with dual 3870's P9500 2x320's raid 0 1920x1200res blueray. Shouldn't be to hard....I hope

I don't know whether to pity the potential buyer or see him as someone who throws cash around without worries. He's losing around $500 regardless of how you look at it.
