Hey guys, I noticed something weird with my page file. I thought I set it to 4500 MB, but both task manager and systeminfo say it's still 8465 MB. It's never gone above 2000 MB, but is that extra 3965 MB of space still allocated for the page file, and is it just sitting there unused. I'd like to free it up if that's the case. It's so weird, I'm looking at what the page file says it is, and then I look over to task manager, and it's completely different info. Here's a pic.

Well, that's another problem. I can't find it. It says it's in the C directory, but I can't find it in either explorer or the command prompt. I guess because it's a system file. Do you know how I could find it?

I can get to it from command prompt though. What command checks file size?

    type:

    dir/a pagefile.sys

and next to it there will be the size (eg 4,253,659,136 for me which is about 4GB)

or in Windows Folder Options, you can set 'Show hidden files folders and drives' and uncheck 'Hide protected operating system files'.

Ok. It looks like 4.5GB. I guess the other readings were errors. Thanks
