Hi guys, i'm planning on getting a decent gaming laptop for my birthday this summer and i was having a look at various specs and came upon the new gateway laptops. The specs of the laptop i'd like (P-172X FX) are excellent and the price is far better than here in the UK, but unfortunately they don't ship to the UK.

I have friends in the USA who i can ask it to be delivered to, and then they can ship it. How much would this cost including postage/packaging/taxes(?) and any other charges that may apply?

The laptop is $2000, thanks for any help and/or suggestions. Any estimates would be a great help!

You may have to pay customs on that laptop, I am not sure. Also, I would look into warranty service - you don't want to have this notebook shipped overseas. Check to see if Gateway has a global warranty.

Notebooks are liable to 17.5% VAT when imported into the UK. The shipping company will want this money from you before the computer gets cleared from customs.
