from what I see sean your order is still in production, these units are set to arrive from overseas sometime early next week and should ship out 2-3 days later. My "ballpark" guess is that you should see it sometime between the 6th and 10th of March.

wow, the sales rep i talked to when i ordered said around the 18th for arrival date...hopefully that was very conservative!

 

Well I'm getting the P-171S FX and my arrival date is the 11th....I'm getting excited too! I haven't anticapated something like this, this much, since the Giants Superbowl! Next week is going to be hell!!! :cry:

Any one know how long the normal shipping are on these things for? I forgot...is it ground? 3-5 days?

 

Yes, your right Ground 3-5 days, I think they are coming into Cali, so I live in AZ WOOT!

 

they actually come to Tennessee. Thats were Gateway's domestic stock-house is located.

I talked to my Gateway Sales Rep, "Rico" today, and he told me that the P-717x fx's have a est. ship date of 3/13 with at the most a 6 day shipping time. (shipping from the west coast)

Part of his email to me
Quote "projected to ship 3/13,(sorry, a little
late on delivery of these systems to our warehouse, the computer gives
it 6 days to arrive so 3/19 is estimated arrival but usually doesn't
take 6 days as they arrive on the west coast, so look for tracking
numbers the 13th or so... after you get those from fedex or ups, u would
have a more concrete delivery date "

My rep told me that since Acer bought them out, they are being looked at a lot closer, they can not give the big discounts like they could a few weeks ago. $200 off the P-171x fx and $300.00 off the P-171xl fx.

 

wow really? are we still cool with the ones we have received already? I got 340 off the P-171S FX.

 

Yes, whatever deal everyone made is still good, anyone from now on will not get as good as a deal as in the past. Let's face it, this laptop is still a good deal.

 

waiting for this laptop really sucks. Its a good thing I decided to buy this early.

 

That acer thing... that's kind of weird, because they were bought out in august of last year, right? How is that having an effect on discounts now, when less than a month ago they had no problems offering better deals? Strange

 

Not realy, a month ago the wait time was long enough for the sales reps to make a good caes to the "suits" above that people would not really want to wait that long to by from Gateway direct. They could just goto Best Buy. The sale to Acer has been many steps, the business side was first, but the consumer side was recent starting in Aug of 07. Its not like selling a car it takes a long time to tranfer all the "stuff". That said Acer I guess is starting to watch the sales team alittle more now days from what I have been told my my Gateway Dude. He is wondering if his job is going to make it though the transition time, I would too, just like any other company in the world "Meet the new boss, the same as the old boss"

do you have your reps number? I would like to contact him on this. Maybe he can help me more. I just talked to a sales rep at gateway and she says the estimated arrival date for my order is now March 28th...from Marth 11th....WTF????? I'm about to beat some one!

 

Yeah, I was just told the last week in march now as well, and I had placed my order on 2/7..

This is getting annoyingly frustrating...I knew I should have picked up the Best Buy version when it was $1199 with 18 month financing, I was in the the store looking at it, but my G/F convinced me that I was just being impatient and that the model I had on order was better and it was worth waiting a couple of weeks...

That is the date on Gateways Website if you where to order one today, thats kinda weird.When I when check my order status online at gateway.com it shows 03/12/2008 Estimated Arrival Date.

 

ok...she just came back from having me on hold and told me thats for new ones. flynnaz is correct. and my ETAD is still 3/11 but she said my order is now on back order again and told me if I don't get it on 3/11, to expect to get it anywhere 7 days after. I am starting to get impatient though. I'm kind of kicking my self in the butt for not going after the Best Buy one.

So far I bought for the lappy (my first one at that):

• Laptop Bag
• USB LED light
• Logitech Wireless Laser Gaming Mouse
• Logitch Headset (yes I went with the headset...was only $40 and looks really portable for laptop use)

 

The P-171s fx and the P-171x fx are worth the wait, besides you will have the same wait if not longer with Bestbuy

 

yeah..I can say the wait is worth it. But it really is testing my patience. I wonder why my order has been put on back order again though. I ordered almost a month ago. They are meanies!

 

I feel the same why, I ordered mine on the 12th, I think they will all ship at the same time, the order from China was late I guess that's what my Gateway dude told me. I am glad I still have 5 computers to use

 

lucky...I have my desktop. but that hasn't been upgraded in years. it still has an AMD64 1800+ with dual sli 6600gt's lol. I'm due for something faster.

 

I ordered a 171x fx on 2/11 and my ship date is still listed as 3/07/08. Guess that's not going to happen as my order still says processing.

Anyone's order past "processing"?

 

FINALLY, I got a hold of my rep Cody. I wasn't able to get any extra discount on my laptop or a decent price on an upgrade to the 171X FX, but he did give me some insight on my order.

He told me that it is on backorder and that my new estimated ETAD is 3/28, but the way the system calculates it, is that it adds an additional two weeks to the order if they don't think the system will arrive on time for the original date. He said I should be getting it much sooner that that, since I did place my order a month ago and that I was one of the first to do so.

He said he's going to be talking to a couple of managers today and is going to shoot me an email by the end of the day on a more accurate date of when I should be getting it. If I get this email, I will copy on here.

Well, as a 6831FX owner, I welcome all of our soon to be 171FX brothers. This is one hell of a laptop, and will not disappoint. Given how happy I am with my little guy, the higher speced 171s will knock your socks off.

Aiya.....lol all this waiting is killing me. You guys know a month after we get out laptops something else "better" will more then likely appear on the market. Considering the sales of this machine...other manufacturers are gonna jump on the bandwagon and get a piece of the pie.

 

I just spoke to my sales rep at Gateway (Jessie) and he told me that my 171x fx I order 2/11 is due to ship within 48 hours. My original estimated date of arrival is tomorrow, 3/7.

Well, that was what the dude (Jessie) that sold me the comp told me. I just received an email from gateway's general help and the lady responded that my new arrival date is 3/18. Strange there's so much conflicting information.

 

Well I think the beauty of the gateway strategy is that we all pre-order our laptops at what we perceive to be an amazing price, and we get to sit on back order for a few months, while the cost of the parts goes ways down and by the time we get it, the deal ain't so good!

I am in a bit of a conspiracy theory mood

 

The 3/18 date sounds more like it.

well, my EAD is still the 11th of March. I placed my order the day they started to take pre-orders of this system, which is the 31st of January ...

 

hehehe, here is a silly thought. Can u imagine by the end of the next week Gateway makes a comment: " Due to a malfunction in our production, the entire line-up of P-171 FX series is canceled"

personally, I would go berserker !!!

Dhooooooo!, I think the shipment from China got delayed, thats why, so reguardless we are all in the same boat. "The slow boat from China". lol
