My specs are T5550 at 1.83GHz, ATi 2600 HD, and 3 GB of RAM. I was hoping to be able to run games like Day of Defeat Source and Counter Strike at high settings plus 2xAA and AF, but that gives me terrible performance - 30FPS or so. Is it because of the processor?

The Video Card you have is a decent one and is considered mid-range. If you were to upgrade your CPU to something about 2.2 -2.6Ghz I would estimate that you would only get an additional 2 or 3 FPS. You can try over-clocking your GPU a little bit higher which will help some. I hope this helps. God Bless :)
