Should I buy the M-6864FX now, or wait for the Montevina refresh?

Hello everyone, this is my first post here.

I've been looking at the M-6864FX, and it seems like a great deal: good specs, low price, good quality. However, I read that there could be a refresh in the near future, now that the Montevina chips are rollling out.

This would be my first laptop, and I have to purchase it sometime between now and November. Should I buy it now before it's sold out (BestBuy moved it to the Outlet), or would it be a better idea to wait for a refresh? While we are at it, would the refresh affect the M-6864FX, or do you think it'll be aimed at higher-end laptops?

EDIT: As a side note, what I'd like most about a refresh is longer battery lifetime, and maybe a little less heat (got some bad heat experiences with desktops).

    Thanks! :)

If it has been moved to the outlet that means it is EOL (best buy term for no longer replenishing) which would mean that the refresh would be out within at most two months

    Oh I see.

When I read your post I went to Gateway's website and looked under the M series, but I didnt find any refresh there. So I thought that either you were on crack or you misread the post.

Thx for letting me know. Now I can go read it and be jealous.

EDIT: Wait a second, M-6846 is not a refresh  You sure your not on crack? :p

EDIT2: Okay I re-read your two posts and now I think maybe you meant to say "The 68 64 was jusst released a short whole ago." in reference to the 6864FX? In that case, ya you are right it is kinda new. I guess the confusion was that I was reading what you wrote in different context then you meant it to be.

There's a difference in the hard disks: 200 GB & 7200 RPM for the M-6864FX, 250 GB & 5400 RPM for the M-6862. The price difference and the higher capacity are interesting, but everyone keeps telling me the 7200 RPM disk is worth it. What would you suggest?

Will the refresh be within the same price range? This factor is important to me.

If you want bang per buck pick up a M6862 on sale. You can get it around $449 apparently.
