    Should i put thermal pads on my VRAM?

    My comp is a GATEWAY M-6862

    Can i put thermal pads on my VRAM?
    Will it lower temps in anyway?
    Do i have to apply thermal grease?
    Where can i buy the BEST thermal pads?
    --Pads must be at least 1mm--
    Any LINKS would be gladly appreciated.

    The purpose of a thermal pad is to transfer as much heat as possible from one surface to another; that is, from a CPU die or GPU die to a heat sink, which is in turn cooled by a fan. Adding thermal pads will do nothing if the heat isn't transferred to a sink and then dissipated.

    Does any one at least know where can get thermal pads from, i want good ones plz. i took out the old one off my gpu and now theirs a 1mm of space between heat sink and gpu. .And it now reaches temps of 106 Celsius :eek: .

    As I wrote you in the other thread, the pad should be placed between the cpu and the hitsink. Usually the pads are little thicker and will compress itself under hitsink pressure. I think this one will be good:

    Originally the gateway use the thermal putty ( look at the photos in the next link), if you will be able to buy the putty you can use it instead the pad.

    Please note that on the chipset there is thinner pad, so you have to get the thinner one, too.

    All pads are little too large so you will have to trim them to size.
