    Skyping with the P-7811 FX? Who does it and what do you think? I have been pretty unhappy with the quality (both audio and video).

    If you are happy with yours, pleae let me know what settings you are using. Granted I have almost everything maxed, but, I thought I computer should be able to handle it..

    Suggestions would be apprecaited..

    The mic is crap on our machines. Its one of the componets that gateway skimped on to get the machines to us with the prices they did. You're going to need an external mic and i dont know of any way to get anything resembling quality signal out of our internal mics.

    The camera... well its better than the mic but not by much. It has a bad tendency to wash out and lose the video signal. There were alot of threads about it about 4 or 5 months ago, but i cant for the life of me remember if a solution was found

    Thanks for the response.. I did see threads about the quality of the camera :-(


    pretty bad.. didn't know about the mic.. I will see if I can find something about skype. If you remember though, let me know..

    I have the same laptop the camera is pretty bad, however the microphone isnt all that bad, i have modded audio drivers and i turned off the auto adjust feature in skype. It also helps ALOT if you use some type of headphones while using skype. I think i got them here actually....
