I have a 7801u and i take really good care of it. i clean it, and place it in a location where cool air is always circulating.

I've owned my laptop for almost a year now, but i've noticed that my idle GPU temps have increased alot since i've own this laptop. When i first purchased it my idle temps where about 28-32 C now they average about 48-49 C. Is this normal?

Im using the latest DOX driver (which has been working fine for a long time), i also use the NC2000 cooler (unmodded) which always stays at high?

    Should i be concerned?

How often do you clean the vents in the laptop, and what are your temps like under load (gaming, watching high def video)?

once every two weeks. and temps under load are about 65-67 C (which i would consider normal)

the under loads dont seem too high to me seeing that its an laptop gpu although they could still be considered high.

but the 49 C idle temps when they used to be around 28-32C is what bothers me

Honestly 28-32 seems low for a normally idling system. But if your's was staying that low its more than likley just your TIM hardening a bit. Eventually most all thermal paste will harden and lose some of its capability to remove heat.

Its nothing to worry about normally, but if you just "had" to have the original temps back you can always take the machine apart and reapply the TIM

My current temp is 47C at .8 volts (I believe).

I beat the hell out of my gpu at times though. When I get into a taxing game like GTA or Bad Company I crank the clocks up to 720/950/1800 and overvolt to about 1.15 volts. The GPU can get pretty hot... like 78 when I stress test it. Once it gets that hot glitches start to pop up. I just bought Arctic Silver to fix my 360's RROD. Now I am wondering if I should use some on my laptop's GPU.

I have the 7805 and the highest 3dMark I have gotten with my completely stock system was 9623 last week.

    Going back to OP's question:
My idle is 47C with the back propped up, powermizer on, and an undervolted gpu. I blew compressed air in my vents last week. The temp seems fine to me.
