    Does such a beast exist yet? I don't need Blu Ray, just a regular DVD burner is plenty. The DVD drive on my 7811 just really pisses me off for some reason.

    I have not been able to find a slot loading SATA burner anywhere yet .

    Can the 7811 use the drive from a P-172X? It uses a slot load.

    Old model is PATA from the P-68xx P-17x line and ours is SATA . i looked high and low a couple weeks back and one does not exist.

    Got my 7811FX a week or so after it was released and it has an Optiarc AD-7583S. Don't the newer ones come with a different drive?

    All I know is my 7583S wouldn't read the stock Office Enterprise 2007 disc no matter what I tried while the year and a half-old NEC in my Dell worked like a charm, which makes me automatically not like it.

    When money becomes less of an issue I'm thinking I'm going to replace it with the Lite-on Newegg sells with comparable specs. Not looking forward to transplanting the faces, though.
