Just got a fx computer and it comes with a BR tray drive. I am looking to swap it out with a slot load drive. WHAT, are you crazy? is probably what I would expect as a response. I am using the PC for computing gaming and most important DJ-ing. The dJ-ing is the reason I would want to swap the drives out. I do not watch BR at all, nor forsee using it in the future.

The question is, is there a drive model that fits the bodyline of the fx chassis?
Thanks for any help and responses.

You could try to hunt down the drives from the 172XFX's i believe they were slot load drives. More likely than not you could probably trade an owner of a 172 straight up for the drive

I might be willing to do a straight up trade like Kamin Majere said as long as you've read the complaints about the gateway slot loads and are willing to live with them.

In the interest of full disclosure, here is the thread that outlines the slot load problems: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=276493

Pros: it's slot load and you know it fits in the FX chassis

Cons: It spins down after loading a track and can take up to a second to spin back up again once the track is over.

G-Nome is the only game in which I've noticed it do this; other games like RCT3 and Hitman II run fine, as does iTunes.
