Any tips, tricks, or hints you can offer me? Or even if I should do it?

I'm kinda wary because the 7811 already runs a bit hot, so if I OC I can only imagine the ensuing aftermath

I find that overclocking is not too beneficial with our cards. At best it's for bragging rights with 3dmark. But in real world performance, you'd be very very lucky if you get 5 extra frames a second. At the expense of more heat and such. I'd recommend you crack open the laptop and put some AS5 on it before overclocking to negate the extra potential heat.

Seems kinda crowded in there, thought I'd get a better response on the "outside," so to speak.

3Dmark doesn't interest me too much, and all I really care about is real-world performance so I don't think I'll even bother. It's good enough as-is :)

If you had the 8400 that would be worthwhile to overclock because there's lots of room for more performance. But from what I heard, the 9800 is basically a 8800 if not slightly clocked higher. So you're already pushing the peak.

OC is worth it on my rig, 5FPS is 5FPS more then you had before and the extra heat has not caused an issue yet. The gain in 3dmark was not marginal, it was huge..

I agree with rancid.. see signature. What you got? :) And by the way, for those who dont believe in 3dmark..it's a benchmark that relates to current day gaming.. it is just as CPU intense as GPU intense. If your score goes up 15%, then gaming performance will likely follow. That's all I've got for ya. Oh, and I preach 177.85 XFastest driver.. if ya look in one of these 7811FX lounges, you'll find my post and screen shots showing its 300 points or so higher than 177.92. But, then again.. that is just 3dmark06 :p
