But will the new gateway be build on existing mobo or new one (centrino 2 technology)?

Nobody knows for sure. But if it's the P8400 that's inside, that's a Montevina chip.

That guy which is working for BestBuy has provided the model number. It will be P-7811FX. He quoted that CPU will be T8400 but RAM will be DDR3 (thus Montevina chip). I'm only wondering if 1920x1200 is not too high for 17" display?

    Well, seeing as to how there's no T8400 on Intel's website, but a P8400, I'm guessing there's an error. That's why I figured P8400.

    1920 x 1200 isn't too bad.

i put a wuxga 1920x1200 screen in my current 6860 and couldnt be happier but ive always had them in my notebooks and when i first got my fx i didnt mind the stock screen but it wasnt long before i swapped it out and no way i could go back to the old one.

Have you increased font size to have text easily readable? My understanding is that such resolution on 17" screen is giving you really small fonts on the screen.

ya i take it up to 120% you get used to it either way but at first when you see a wuxga screen your like whoa thats tiny but when you play games at that rez its awesome to say the least everything is sharp and clear . You would have to go to a store and take a peak at one for yourself to really get where im coming from .

Good idea, I will go to the laptop shop and check such resolution. Performance wise I think that in games it is probably better to decrease resoltution to 1680x1050 or even 1440x900.

I can't wait. This speculation makes me wish it was released right now. $1400 for a 9800m GTS, 1920x1200, 17 inch laptop is a steal compared to every other laptop. I was looking for a 15.4 inch but this deal is too good to pass.
