    Solo 9500 wont boot

    Hello, I recently got hold of a broken gateway Solo 9500 laptop, the problem with it is that it will not boot. i have narrowed down one thing though, when the battery is in and connected to AC adapter, it will not even turn on, when i take the battery out and hook up to ac adapter, the computer turns on and the fan turns on, but it does not go through any boot processing and it turns off and gives me 2 or 3 loud beeps. Do i just need a new battery for it? Im not good with laptops so im not sure how to diagnose a problem like this.
