i bought this laptop (6831 refurbished) threw ebay in Jan., every thing appeared fine until my laptop's hard drive died 2 months in it's new home. but anyways, the problem i have.

the only way that my laptop loads the OS is if i go in the Bios then i quickly exit without changing anything or saving anything. if i don't do that the OS will just hand there doing nonething. i have tired installing a fresh OS many times but it does not do anything. all my drivers are updated and i bought a new 320gb drive after the original failed. the only thing i have changed is the cpu and drive to a bigger one, everything else is stock on it. any help or ideas will greatly help me lose less hair every day.

    my specs, cpu t8300
    hard drive 320gb, bought new
    OS MS Vista Prem
    3gb of system memory

Change the boot order so the laptop boots off of the harddrive 1st. Remember to save your changes before you exit the bios screen.

It may be set to boot off of an external USB drive possibly?

It could be a problem with the bios of the laptop itself. Someone may have made some modifications hence the "refurbished" tag.

I'll help you out as much as I can. I have the same cpu as you.
