I took apart my 7805u following the guide on the forum to replace the paste on CPU/GPU/NB. My laptop runs cooler now but some of my keyboard keys aren't working. My ctrl, alt, home, Pg up, up arrow, left arrow, + and enter key on keypad don't work. I tried reinserting my keyboard cable a couple of times but no luck. Has anyone come across this problem and fixed it?

Sounds like your cable isn't seated correctly or you might have damaged the connection/cable tip.

You might have to give it a few more tries. Or take a magnifying glass and by some off chance you might be able to see if you have a bad spot in the wire at the tip

That's what I'm afraid of
I'll get a magnifying glass and see if anything is damaged. Thanks for the advice, hopefully I can pin point the problem this time around.

Maybe its not something major. It could be something as simple as one of the wires is a bit bent and not allowing a connection.

That's why the magnifying glass will help to see if there is a spot on the wire that is "different" than the rest.

Maybe it will be a quick and easy fix for you
