New problem! Which seemed to happen after I changed the bootup stuff.

It appears my wireless, and ethernet connections do not work.

    A) The wireless is not picking up any wireless networks. (I checked my friend's PC, the wireless is working perfectly.)

    B) Ethernet says it's connected, and running at normal speed. However, no internet.

    C) Internet displayed weird error, "The search page could not be found."

    D) Following the disappearence of the error, the webpages are no longer "found" and display, "check internet connection info"

...again, any help would be appreciated.

The PC is a gateway m680.

Firmware, drivers updated? Is the wireless card enabled?

uh, no clue what firmware is...

drivers are updated, "should be updated", besides I never had a problem with this before...

and yes, wireless card enabled. But it's not just the wireless card, it's the ethernet too.

Well... C and D aren't going to work if your internet connection and/or ethernet is jacked up. Did you turn any services off in msconfig relating to networks? You may want to double check your services (under msconfig) and make sure your network stuff is running...

same thing happened to me before on the m680, turned out to me own stupidity that I used access list for my routor, since its so long ago I set that up with my router to my old laptop I thought that the m680 iwas having problems. so go check that.

Another thing is to use the window XP SP2's connection method only, try not the use the wireless pro software (by intel) provided by gateway

    hope this helps

I've experienced something similar to this before.

Are you using WEP or other encryption on your router?

I've discovered that if the keys aren't set for the same number, the network might or might not show up. Sometimes it might say you're connected (or have limited connectivity), but in reality you aren't.
