I installed windows 7 on my p-6831fx friday and thought everything was fine. Install was quick and painless, didn't have to search for many drivers etc...

But I have since noticed that if I let my computer sleep upon waking up the sound no longer works. It is fixed with a restart but its annoying. I downloaded the newest driver from realtek because I was thinking that was the driver I had in Vista but it errors when trying to install.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks

Well, first it is NOT a realtek sound, it's a IDT sigmatel, Mine installed automatically on Win 7 Pro without issues. You could remove sound via Device Mgr, and go to win update and see if it picks it up

I tried to install the sigmatel driver and it did not install correctly either (I only found the 32-bit driver though). I uninstalled the current driver and had windows search but it automatically installed the generic windows sound driver that is causing the issue.

Another problem I have noticed is that when I wake the computer from sleep my Ethernet internet connection errors out and is only fixable by resetting my modem and allowing the connection center to "fix the problem." It is always fine before sleeping.

Both of these problems arise because I usually boot the computer and then close the lid when windows is loaded because I use the comp attached to an external monitor at home. As a temporary fix I set my computer to not go to sleep when attached to the AC outlet when the lid is closed so it bypasses the problems. If I fix either I will post back how I resolved them.

    Thanks for input
