I was testing out the dvd player on my new 7811 yesterday and noticed how quiet the speakers are! The only other noise factor in the room was having an AC unit running, and I couldn't hear the movie sitting right in front of me.
I messed with a few settings, and tried a few sound tests and its weird. When I do an audio test the sound its perfectly loud, but then from any other software it leaves a lot to be desired. So I watched the volume levels (where it shows all three output levels in bars), and even in loud scenes such as homer yelling DOH when the dome is dropped it would only light up one or even 2 of the 10-15 bars. I believe its a software issue as to why things are so quiet. Has anyone found a way to "bump up the volume"? Are there any alternative drivers for 64 bit vista? Thanks!

Have you tried turning up the volume on the application you are using to play said DVD? Sometimes they have independent volume controls.

my audio is fine at around 30 when my tv is off, it can get pretty loud. i have just been using windows media player and it's been fine.
-
I was using windows media center and it only goes up to 50 on there for some reason. I just watched a youtube video and it was a lot louder so I dunno whats going on.
-
yeah i think it ony goes up to 50 on mine too, but it is still loud. are you sure you set the speakers up right?
-
Is there something you have to do to set them up? I just made sure all the volumes were as high as possible.

the stock speakers are pretty lame... if you're in your room with it just get a cheap 3.1 sound speaker set with a bass cannon and crank that mofo! Mine pisses off the people upstairs... but Fu ck them they stomp around like elephants all day anyway.

^this is why irovy hunting is predomenant, stupid loud elephants pissing everyone off.

Plus they poop sofas. Literally.

but since you didnt: -
I read a bad review on best buy that was based on the sound of the 7811 speakers. It's unfortunate, because all you have to do is goto the control panel and configure the speakers there. It's a simple setup process, allows adding bass boost, something else, and loudness control, and the speakers are CRANKING now!

No, I got them working good from the vista control panel.
control panel > sound >
click on the speakers then click properties and select the enhancements tab.
I added bass mangement and loudness equalization and the speakers are kicking now -

neither did i, rep
btw if you use vlc, the headphone preset kicks *** -
Neither did I, thanks!
