I've lately found interest in the Stereoscopic 3d drivers included in the 190.xx and above drivers by Nvidia.

I've never paid attention to them before and ignored them, but now I am interested in trying out the whole 3d vision thing. I've tried using them with the 196.34 desktop drivers but got an error message when trying to activate or run the wizard under the nvidia control panel.

Anyone here ever tried using them on this laptop or similar series laptop? (Btw I have the wuxga version LG screen)

If you have did they work with the Normal 3d glasses that you usually get at Cinemas?

Let me know if you had a positive or negative experience with this. All feedback valued, txs.

ive tried it and you can use any cinema glasses or at least the ones i got worked. as long as they are red and blue they will work (there is a way to change the color if you have other glasses but i wont cover that)

it work ok only if you play a game that you get a constant 60 fps because the 3d effectively cuts performance in half. so the max fps you can really get is more around 30fps. its cool at first but kinda gets dull real fast. most games you have to turn something off to get it to function right like gears of war you have to play in dx10 and you have to turn shadows off. the 3d effect is there for me but since im a little color blind in one eye it leaves a ghosted blue image for me. i can only play with them on for 15 mins before i get an eye ache. that just me though if you have the glasses already and wanna try it the by all means do its free anyway but your not missing anything if you dont.

Hey thanks for the reply, what drivers are you running under btw?
I am running under 196.34 right now and it tells me "this laptop's panel is not qualified for 3d vision".
    I've read here: http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=153780
that this happens to his laptop on all drivers above 191.xx, so he has to use 190.38 to enjoy it.

I installed the 190.38 drivers and yes the Stereoscopic 3d drivers work on these ones. Now I just have to wait until my 3d glasses arrive in the mail, I ordered 10 of em for 10 bucks at the Nvidia store online and they should be arriving today hopefully.

The glasses arrived yesterday and tried out the 3d thing. It's pretty interesting in some games like MW2 and left 4d dead, also nice in some adventure games where there is a close 3rd persion view avatar. The experience was nice, but after a while trying them out it gets annoying because the colors are very limited to dark and bright reds and blues. I'd say it's worth trying it out and playing once in a while to get the effect, but it's not something to use on a regular basis while gaming. Also losing considerable fps in games is annoying. I reinstalled my 196.34 drivers since I won't be using 3d vision again soon, and I get better performance with these drivers. Cheers!
