Ok. Whats the cooling cycle like on a 7805? As soon as I start up I get a wierd (pulsing) fan cycle. ....High for 1/2 sec...off for 1/2 sec.....repeat for 10 mins.....finally stabilizes at 44c or so.....if i play a game for a while WAR, WoW, 2142....Im close to 60.......it STAYS that high for at least an hour after I close the game. Sometimes it starts to go down....hit 48 maybe.....then right back up (remember im done playing....looking at desktop or just web surfing)...Should my gpu hover that high an hour after im done doing anything? And whats with the pulsing fans...? Sorry. Just seems wierd to me.

Maybe your GPU has a thermal pad, so that the temperature doesn't fluctuate so much.

Fan comes on when GPU reaches 48c-50c and wont shut off till it gets the GPU temperature to 42c-44c.
    Happens with every p-7805u/7801u/7811/etc.

Sorry. It is the GPU. To give an idea... I havent played any games in almost 2 hours. My GPU temps are hovering between 55-58. They did dip down to 44 or so a while ago but been steady for a while now. Have only heard the fan kick in once for a split second. I havent had any probs running anything but I dont think It'll take long if these temps keep up.

The room temp is mid 60's id say. Not warm at all. I have the laptop on my desk with the back propped up 3/4 of an inch or so.

Right now I'm using Dox 185 drivers. They seem to work great except for the high idle temps. I'll look around and see what I can find. For the heck of it...Is there any way to manually adjust the fans, or timing of the fans, etc....? Thx

Personally I hate the 185's, they caused in-game lockups for me.
Dox 181.22's are the best for my system.
Try those out see how it works.
And I think there is, but I've never used or tried so I can't help with that nor know the name of the softwares. I'm sure you could find it through google though.

Well Ive tried a few different drivers. Right now I'm on the default drivers that came with it. If I'm not doing anything at all, It idles at around 44 or so. If I even do basic web surfing, it climbs well over 50....hit 63 last night. This just sounds strange to me. I played C&C 3 for an hour earlier and hit 50 or so. And I hit high 50s or higher just web surfing? Ideas anyone?

^ Those temperatures are fine. If it goes above 70 (CPU), then you start have to asking questions.

You have nothing to worry about.
