Stuck pixel? it does change with some colors but not all

Hey all,

Need some advice from you all, i got myself a p6831 fx the other day and i have a weird pixel problem. The 2 pixel's are together and are mostly red, on a white background they turn white and on a black background they sometimes turn black but most other colors they are red.

This is the thing i need help with though, if i open a small'ish window and follow the edge of the window under the pixels all the way down the monitor the pixels are normal. If i go 1 pixel left or right they turn red again, does anyone know whats wrong with them? I have tried a few stuck pixel programs and they havent worked, i even tried Udpixel all night.

Thanks for that, but it's the same as UDpixel except doesnt do anyhting.

Does anyone know what i can do with these pixels? dont wanna take it back to BB cuz they dont even sell it anymore.

Yeah we do (Employee here), it is an active SKU, and the location I work at had 2 come in last Thursday, but I sold them both over the weekend. You can have them get one in specifically for an exchange from another store, even outside their district or territory. Also, they can use a system called "CF" to order one if there are any in the warehouse.

 

Thanks for the reply, Newmarket is the nearest one to me so maybe i'll go down on Saturday. I can send it into repair with gateway but dont know how long it would take and if thats more trouble than it's worth. Very undecided in what to do, how long would it take to get another one from BB?

Hopefully not too long. Probably less than a week, and you'd still have that one until the new one got there. Just talk with the GM or other store manager about the problem, and I'm sure they will work with you to get one. Sending it off to Gateway would take longer, for sure. Very sure.

I hate saying it, but it is going to be leaving Best Buy overall on Sunday. No more P-6831FX's. I really wish this weren't the case. I love selling this bad boy! Not to mention owning one...

I wonder why BB are going to stop selling this lappy? it has to be the best lappy in Canada at the moment for the money. But this does at least give me an answer, i go to gateway for a repair.

 

Honestly, I have no idea, it far exceeded sales forecasts. Hopefully it's a new 9800 model coming!

 

Maybe Best Byu will sell the P-171 version

I have a rain check for the P-6831fx at the $1250 price with a free game! What does that mean for me. Will Best Buy give me a deal on the next Gateway system that comes out then that is equivalent to the P-6831fx? This is making me mad!

 

I would think Best Buy will make good on all existing orders.

 

A lot of stores will have one more shipment of them, but I would go to the store and see if you can have them transfer one in from somewhere else. You'd have to prepay, but it's worth it.

 

They checked other local stores and they told me they are all sold out. I'll definitely be going back there today and talk to them again. Hopefully they'll help me out.

 

It looks like you can order one at bestbuy.com still, they are backordered, but you can still order one.

I was half tempted to do that but I planned on getting a one year warranty from Best Buy that includes accidental damages. The website does not have that option.

 

My gateway rep though in the accidental damages warranty at n/c, and the three year warranty is only $149.00

I really don't want to spend that much though. Since I have the rain check for my laptop at the $1200 price and a free game, that's an awesome deal. I also don't want that long of a warranty, I just want a year, which Best Buy said a one year warranty with accidental damage is only $100, so then after that I can upgrade it and not have a warranty to void. After the warranty is up is when I plan on swapping in a nicer cpu, hard drive, and so on.

Yes, and yes. They UPS it either to the store where it has your name on it or directly to an address you specify.

 

I'm happy to say that I got my P-6831fx tonight. I went to Best Buy and chewed them out because how long I've been waiting for that laptop and every time I call they treat me like garbage when I ask on an update if the laptops in or not. Then I started yelling at them that bestbuy.com shows that the store I was at had them in stock too. They said they'll see what they could do and a few minutes later they came out with one and sold it to me. I don't know what they were doing with those laptops that they have but they definitely didn't want to sell it to me. All in all I'm happy that I got the laptop before they're completely gone though.

I've already been up all night giving it a fresh install of vista and also adding all my programs. I ran the restore disc and I'm pretty sure I updated all the drivers that needed to be. For some reason under the processor driver it shows two processors. Should I be worried about that? Also, are laptopvideo2go drivers going to void my warranty?

 

It shows 2 processors cause its a dual core and as for installing other video drivers no it wont void your warranty .
