I have searched every thread related to LCD swapping and cannot find a solution to my problem. I am getting my Dell E1705 ready to sell *sniff* he's been good to me. Anyway. I decided to finally try swapping the LTN170WU-L01/02 1920x1200 screen into my gateway FX 6860 to see if I can just get more value out of this already not-so-valuable-anymore Dell laptop. I have read that many people are using this screen and that it works perfectly so I gave it a go. I hooked it up to the stock inverter and hooked in the display cable, everything worked great one shot. Fired up, went to the desktop and I am missing 1280x800, 1440x900, 1680x1050, as well as a few other wide-screens resolutions like 1600x900. The only wide-screen res's I have are 1360x768, 1600x1024, and 1920x1200. That is NOT enough for gaming. I need more options when things get laggy and I have to back the resolution down. I was always able to run these on the E1705. I have tried reinstalling video drivers, removing and re-detecting monitor drivers, throwing in the old hard drive that still has the factory Vista installation, and reinstalling XP to see if it just needed to completely detect things from scratch. No luck, I can't even force those resolutions in games like Quake 3 using the autoexec trick, it just fills that portion of the desktop but does not go full screen. Anyone else have this issue? I am actually one version newer than the latest BIOS available on Gateway's website. I really like this screen but I cannot use it like this. Thanks in advance for any advice!

Scratch 1360x768, I have 1280x720, and I also have 1920x1080. I also messed up on the title it is an LTN170WU-L01/02 (etched in the top left corner of the LCD frame)

Problem resolved, driver issue for sure. I just remembered the existence of LaptopVideo2Go drivers, tried them, and all 20 something resolutions I used to have have returned and work great :)

I hope this helps some others out. I was using the latest drivers for the 8800m off Nvidia's website but they're not specially formulated for all laptops and this shows it.
