 I put in a new T7500 CPU the idle temp runs between 37C and 41C when I run 3D Mark 6 it jumps up to 80C to 84C I would like to know what is a safe temp for it to run at. It says on intels page it is rated at 100C but that sounds high to me?

I would also like to know about laping the CPU to make it run cooler, I know people are doing it on there Desktop CPU's and I see a Coating of something on the top of the new CPU and on the old one. What is this?

Next I have the SetFSB program and the SetFSB Auto Tool for my CPU yet it does not change the clock speed. is this a bios issue or what?

    Please help

    This is my setup:

    P-6831FX Specifications:

That stuff on top of the cpu is thermal compound, which is required for proper cpu function. You say your new cpu already had a layer of this stuff on it? Did you buy it new? CPUs don't have any applied out-of-the-box, so you're supposed to apply a layer yourself when you install it. Look up Arctic Silver 5.

negative. you need to find the correct PLL number for your computer. something that we have been trying for months to find out to no avail.

I'm not talking about the thermal compound this stuff is a clear hard coat looks almost like an epoxy, I did use Formula 5 thermal compound but are my temps OK? and can this CPU be laped to lower temps?

I found a clock generator ICS9LPR501HGLF that would read my core but it changes nothing. Is this what you are talking about in not having the correct PLL?

Temps over 80 degrees C are definitely not normal. Weird that your idle temps seem to be in check. I don't have much experience with cpu's so I don't have much more knowledge on the subject. I myself switched the T5550 to a T9300, and my idle temps are like yours, but when gaming only jump to the 50's C.

correct. you would need to find the PLL number that would allow you to change the FSB/Core speed. many of us on this forum have searched and tried for many months without any success.
