Ok, I know this has been asked a lot and I have before, but not specifically this question.

How reputable is it to purchase this processor off of e-bay? It's nearly 100 U.S. dollars cheaper. Has anyone done it before?

Secondly, is this a big jump from the stock T5550?

    Gaming
    Watching x264 movies (Sometimes struggles)
    Encoding/Ripping/Burning

Thirdly is it easy to install?

    Edit*

The T8300 on there seems about 40-60 dollars cheaper. Is that a good choice/upgrade as well?

    Thank you!

For your tasks, the T9300 would be a great boost. Installing the CPU is pretty easy in most laptops. Have you ever done it in a desktop at least? eBay can be good but it can be bad, do a little bit of research on the buyer you are planning to purchase the CPU from.

The reviews on both seem good and over 100+, so I imagine they're pretty reputable. Sadly I don't have any money right now do to the horrible economy.

I've built my own desktop, but the 6860FX taking it apart isn't a lot of fun. Unless you can just take off the under plate.

you dont have to take the whole thing apart to upgrade the CPU, just the one plastic plate and remove heatsink.

I bought mine off ebay who was a normal processor seller. I am very delighted in my purchase as I have undervolted as low as my program will allow me :D. Can't compare it to the stock processor as I didn't have much time with it <5 days. And yea changing a processor on this laptop is easier then a desktop!

It wouldn't happen to be tech-byte would it?

That's the guy I've been looking at.
