which would be the better choice? T9600 for $145.00 or the T9900 for $339.15?
-
-
Definitely the T9900 even if it's more than twice the cost of the T9600.
-
Based on a quick google search looks like all your gaining is 200mhz clockspeed.
T9600 should be more than enough. Use the left over on something good. -
Yeah, you could get the T9600, and put the savings towards a ssd
-
I have a T9600 and at times it gets to the T9900's speed of 3.06GHz for up to a minute, and frankly that 200 or so MHz of speed won't matter much, since both the processors are almost identical aside from the clock speed (and the temps ofc)
So unless the choice is between a quad and the T9600, I'd choose the latter.
PS: Mind you, the T9600 you're getting is a bargain deal! I got my T9600 for $300 I think, so yeah. Just make sure it isn't an ES though. -

T9600. Since you're stuck @ 3ghz in a Gateway with the T9900 anyway. Where are you getting the T9600 for so cheap? I would have bought one of those @ that price and overclocked the crap out of it.

Found it online. It is an OEM chip. I am gonna purchase it tonight. Thanks for the help.

T9600 deal fell through. Thinking about a T9550 for $230, or the T9900 for $351. What do you guys think? Need your advise, is the 400 or so mhz gonna make that big of a difference?
-
Any Input? Anyone?

Just pay the extra $120 for the piece of mind of knowing you have maxed out the CPU performance for your laptop. If you get the T9550 you'll always wonder "what if". Money is money, it comes and goes and you'll get more so just get the best one and save up for your next mod. I payed $380 total for my T9900 and have absolutely no regrets.
-
I bought a T9550 and it was an awesome upgrade from my 2.0 dual for my G51RX05.. but like the previous poster said, you'll always wonder. I just sold my T9550 for more than I paid for it on ebay. I bought the T9900 from HP parts store and its amazing. Peace of mind that I know I have maxed out my laptop. It made a minimal difference I would say, but at least I know it is faster.
-
I ordered a T9900 from the HP parts store yesterday, hope it arrives soon
can't wait to see how my lappy runs with it
-
if you dead set on getting a T9900 but somewhat put off by the price, get a X9100 instead.
the only downside being its extra heat output + drain on battery life. If Gateway ever do release a BIOS to enable OCing past 3GHz then having a X9100 instead of a T9900 is an added benefit! -
Where can I get an X9100 for cheaper than $331?
-
i was selling mine for $320 on ebay but someone snapped it up already....
-
Why did you get rid of the X9100??
-
cos i got myself an E0 stepping X9100 for cooler temps; cheaper than a t9900 on ebay.
didnt know about the HP store (or if they also ship internationally) otherwise i would have opted to install a T9900 instead. -
i have the T9900 in my P-7805u. i cant notice much difference, but it is nice knowing that mine P-7805u cpu is maxed out. might as well buy the best.
Gateway P-7805u | T9900 @ 3.06Ghz | 4GB DDR3 | Dual 500GB 7200RPM in Raid 0 | 9800M GTS 1GB DDR3 | 5300AGN WiFi | LG 1920 x 1200 LCD | Panasonic BD-ROM/CD/DVD | Win 7 Ultimate 64-bit -
I agree with yunncheezy. Peace of mind is priceless.

Better off spending the couple of extra dollars on more RAM/SSD.
-
just to add to surf's post, better to spend the extra cash on a SSD than 8GB RAM unless you some crazy Photoshop power user or something.
-
Thanks for all of the input, I have decided to get the T9900.
