If you own a T9900 or a T9800 or maybe even a stock clocked X9100, I would really appreciate your input, especially if you have a 9800m GTS.

I need to know how your CPU's are handling Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and Call of Duty: Black Ops. Preferably what settings and resolution you are running at, and what sort of framerate are you getting.

I would really appreciate any sort of input that anyone can offer. Thanks guys.

BTW, I currently have the [email protected], and can run BC2 fine in low settings on 1280x720 resolution. I have somehow managed to get to 4th prestige on Black Ops despite the unacceptable framerate drops I experience. The game runs smoother on high settings then low...SMH -.-

    Hi,

I'm getting around 40 FPS on CoD BO on my P-7811u thats with x9100 at stock speed and my GPU underclocked to 450/1100/550 since its having issues with extra mode at 1.11v

My game settings are all at minimum but the resolution is on 1600x1050, the game is playable at these settings, I didn't notice any serious framerate drops during gameplay.

I can't come up with any real conclusive results as far as fps because even though fraps says its moving along at a decent rate, it doens't always feel that way. I've never had SLI or Crossfire cards, but it's what I'd expect the microstutter to be like.

edit: Finally got my bad hdd to clone and I'm happy to say I can run black ops with zero issues online in MP. I have my gpu overclocked to 690-1725-890 and the T9900 at 3.06. I have it at 1440x900 with evrything on max settings except no aa and texture quality at normal. I know I shouldnt use the word max with that kind of settings but it seemed the simplest way to describe it all.

thats exactly what I experience. It seems like the game runs smoothly right up until i see someone then BAM it lags or stutters. It's so frustrating, because I am very competitive and I like to win every game. I was hoping an upgrade to a T9800 would resolve my issues.

It will definitely help. Don't overpay though. Got my T9900 for not much over $200 and I'm not completely sure if it's worth it, but my desktop is my real gaming machine.

Are you happy with the performance improvement? I just want to make sure that I don't get my hopes up and then It not make any difference.

I've just tested the FPS with my x9100 downclocked to 2.26mhz to see how it affects the gameplay and it seems to be about 10-15 FPS lower than stock speed but still playable. keep in mind that my GPU is also downclocked since it has issues, but I guess thats probably the amount of improvment you'll see.

Thanks man I really appreciate you going out of your way to do that. Which game did you test that with?

An extra 10-15 fps would be worth it to me. Basically, I can play all the games I want, I'm just RIGHT on the edge of playable and unplayable. I just want a little more security with my frames when things get a little hectic on the battlefield, know what I'm sayin?

Anytime, I was wandering myself how much of an impact the CPU has on the playability of CoD BO.
If you are on the border between playable and unplayable then a new CPU should give you those extra fps to make it playable, too bad we can't upgrade the GPU too.

to upgrade the gpu you have to upgrade the entire MB. You could get a P79xx main board and then have a 260m. A 260 m gives you about what we can get with the 9800m GTS we have OC'd. It is a 9800m GTX slightly higher clocked so with OC'ng it should yeild a much better result.

Agreed this is not a modern card still but is an option especially if you are borderline on the games now..........................

    Thanks for the info.
Since my GPU have issues I would be happy to get a P79xx board, but if it was available for around 200$-300$ but the lowest I can find is for around 500$+ which is way too much IMHO

There was one on ebay for just under 400. Doubt you will see one for a while for 200-300 or so but I'd agree with the price range. 500 plus is too much when you could put that too another system altogether.............

Yea honestly I wouldn't pay more than $200 dollars for a new board just for the GPU, but I guess it makes sense since you are having issues with the current GPU. $500 is absurd though, you could just build a small form-factor desktop for that amount that would easily outperform our systems.

Like TANWare said our GPU's are not the most modern of cards. In reality you could get a desktop card for $100 that would blow it out of the water. BUT, it gets the job done, even for newer games if you are willing to lower the settings a bit.
