My friend wanted to upgrade his CPU on 7805. I looked at ebay and found X9100 for around $300  Awesome !! However, I saw T9900  It was around $400 and same 3.06ghz.. I think T9900 was 35w compare to x9100. Would T9900 would be a better choice since it runs cooler?

I'm no expert, but I believe the motherboard maxes out at 3.00ghz/ So, the T9800 at 2.93ghz might make the more prudent upgrade than a T9900 at 3.06ghz. The latter should work, but at 3.00ghz. Check the seller, "extreme processor," on eBay. You'll see he's got the T9800 for $338.88. Others have purchased this CPU from this seller and had solid results.

Shiny, I want...If its a choice between the x9100 and the t9900, get the t9900. The main reason for getting an x9100 is the unlocked multipliers and since this feature is locked on the p-78xx there is no point. Any OCing you do, you do through software in Windows. Plus the t9900 is a newer stepping so its the same bang, but less power consumption/heat.

Yup. both cpus are from "extremeprocessor"
I bought my T9600 from him and It worked great from day 1.

My friend is thinking about getting x9100 since it's cheaper..
    Personally I would get a T9900..

T9900 should be the choice, you cannot OC past 3Ghz anyways, so save your money.

i own x9100 e0 stepping and so far so good. it never goes beyond 70c on hwmonitor even during hours of prime 95 test. i didn't undervolt it and it never goes beyond 58c when i am playing games(crysis, video editing, any programs i try). i love mine and best of all, i've got it for $270 free shipping from some guy on ebay. t9900 sounds very nice and since it's 35watts, i am assuming it runs same temperature as e0 stepping t9800. t9800 or t9600 ran around 5c cooler than x9100 so yeah.. if price is not an issue get a t9900.
i am pretty sure that x9100 extremeprocessor guy is selling for $300 is c0 stepping which runs about 10c hotter than e0 stepping so you might better off get t9800 or t9900. honestly though, .13ghz doesn't make any noticable difference but about 100 higher cpu score on 3dmark06.

I like the sound of T9900. It looks like it's the new CPU that just recently came out? It's over $400 on eBay right now though.

t9900 is also only 35watt the x9100 is 44 watt makes a huge difference in battery life t9800 runs cooler than both but the t9900 is still cooler than the x9100 for sure

This might be a good time to point out that I have never been a fan of the extreme processor line, since they are usually the first run and relies heavily on raw power rather then just the power it needs for that clock. Hence the qx6700 runs way hotter then the q6700 which came out later and was stepping...I don't feel like looking it up right now. Point being, I rather wait for the equivalent chip to be released. Not to mention they are usually less then half the price.

zfactor, I have a question. How is T9800 cooler than T9900? I thought they are 35W TDP and 45nm processes. T9900 is just faster.
