TIGERDIRECT TO HAVE MORE P-7811FX's

I've been in contact with Tigerdirect Canada and they've informed me that they are expecting about 580 more P-7811 FX's by about the 26th, so right after Christmas. I believe that this means Tigerdirect US will also get the 580 because I think they share the same pool of computers, since they all ship from the US anyway. I believe this time, an extended warranty will be available, or if not, you could always just get one from Squaretrade.com. I wasn't able to order my P-7811FX when the original refurbished ones came in because I had a refurbished P-6860FX from them, and was delaying because I was seeing if they could transfer my warranty. It seems that they'll be able to, and I was already given a P-7811FX on hold for the next batch shipment on the 26th. Just thought I'd let everyone know. Give rep, lol, jk. Makes you wonder if eventually they'll sell refurbished P-7801u Fx ones, heh.

 

The number of units available may actually be less in the end, but the important thing is that they'll be having a new batch ready for sale. Oh and fair warning, Tigerdirect doesn't usually place HOLDS on items for people, I just guess they did it for me cuz I was nice? So you'll probably be expecting to try and snipe one right away from the website as soon as it goes up on sale.

 

This is such a temping deal. I actually was ordering it, putting the notebook in my cart as it sold out. I'll keep an eye on this.

 

Just another note, I talked to a Squaretrade representative today and it seems Squaretrade doesn't make warranties for Tigerdirect Canada in regards to laptops. Squaretrade is moreso based for ebay sales it seems and that they have no legal standing in offering warranties to Canadian retailers such as Tigerdirect Canada. They can only offer warranties for the Tigerdirect US site. So if you're in Canada, interested in this computer and are looking for an extended warranty, you'll probably hope that Tigerdirect Canada offers one when they start selling the new batch right around/after Christmas. There may be other warranty sellers you could use, and there may even be a way around this, but you'll have to look into that for yourself, and maybe if you find one, should share it here for interested parties.

Originally sold in US for $689.97USD, Canada for $857.97CAD. Price got bumped in US to $749.99 IIRC, Canadian stayed the same. These are refurbished remember, not brand new. No word if the price will stay the same though for these the second time around.

 

While refurb is always chancy, for the record, my refurbished 6860 is perfect in every detail. Not a scratch, scuff, or miscolored pixel to be found.

 

My original P-6860FX refurb came perfect too. I'm hoping that when I exchange it for the P-7811FX, I have the same kind of luck again.

 

My only problem would be how much of a bad chance do you have with getting a refurb? and what happens if the warranty runs out and it breaks. Is there anything you can do?

 

ACtually getting abad unit as a refurb is less than getting a bad one as brand new. Especially in the case os 7811. Remember how many people returned their computers due to the screen ghosting, overheating etc. Now at the refurbishing process, they either replace the monitor, fix the overheating issue so that they can sell it back. That is why it called refurbished or remanufactured.

 

www.squaretrade.com will sell you a warranty for a refurb unit. Pretty cheap too.

On refurb I guess u can only get a 1 year and its 124....any advice on whether this is worth it or not? I'm assuming it might very well be worth it

There was another thread about bluetooth in the 7811 (can't find it right now). It was determined that there is a connector on the motherboard if you completely disassemble the computer. I believe the OP found a bluetooth module from another manufacturer that plugged into that connector.

I saw a post by johnksss yesterday that had pictures from that post. Perhaps he can find the original post...

 

Woot! Just ordered and thanks for the reminder and link for the Live Cash Back option. I opened that up, selected the go shopping on TigerDirect link and that opened up a new TD window thru which I ordered the 7811. Now, exactly how does that work? I subsequently got the Live Cash Back email to set up my account which I did, but no Pending activities are showing. Does it take a day or two to show up?

I guess they started selling them again alot earlier than what I was told over the phone. So much for listening to their customer support.

 

I went back and ordered the warranty from tigerdirect. Just a little info for you guys the warranty in the link in this thread only covers the amount that u paid for the item. If you get the extended through Tigerdirect it will replace the laptop with the exact same model or upgrade you to a like model. If there isnt one that is as good or better than the one u have then they will refund you the money you paid for the laptop. So for the money esp on a model like this I would recomend the Tiger one

 

How long do we have to decide on the extra warranty ?

ARGGGGG I just tried to buy one from CompUSA's website. It showed "in stock". I got it into the cart and hit Submit and the site came up with a red error message "Click to remove this address from your address book". I said "What?" and clicked, and it kept coming back to the same. I checked the dropdown and it had 5 identical address entries in it!! I tried everything, no go, and no "Edit Address" in the My Account section either.

I went to restart the buy procedure and try again - "THIS ITEM IS CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE". ARRRRRRGGGGG.

 

Tigerdirect is still getting more in stock like I said for the 26th of December, but they seem to have gotten a few early, thus the sale today on them. So for those who haven't gotten a chance to get one, there's still hope.

 

DOn't know what they sold for on tigerdirect, but I picked up a refurb on ebay for 900, no tax, free shipping. Hopefully will arrive before xmas.

I hope the price is still going to be between 680 and 750. My bro needs a new laptop and for that price....I mean c'mon most laptops you buy new for that price are complete crap. This thing is a steal. Just OC the CPU a little.

 

to those who purchased one welcome to the 7811 fold. Mine is still going strong with no problem and i purchased mine day one. Had to tell Best Buy they were in the back.. they didn't believe me! Anyway i've had no issues so don't let all the "horror stories" fool you.

I chose the cheapest shipping ($1.99), got my tracking number as well, but the delivery is scheduled for Dec 29 !!!!! Almost two friggin weeks ! When I was ordering the site estimated the delivery date to be Dec 24. Bummer !
I hope UPS is wrong and it will get to me before Xmas.
