I have a 7811fx and I was wondering if this card/laptop supports tv output through the vga port.

I want to be able to watch movies from my PC on my older TV and if it was as simple as buying a vga to rca cable on eBay for $3 it would be awesome. I'd rather not pay $40 for a vga to rca converter box if my video card already supports it.

I did the VGA to RCA thing on my 6860, the image quality was fairly poor though.

No, I tested this on a bran new Vizio TV I bought other day, Hdmi graphics look out standing, however I used a 40mm Wire to RCA (red and white) cable - to my TV and the sound was pretty out standing as well.

You can get one from radio shack, just look for 40mm (sound card plug) to RCA.

    Yes, HDMI supports sound.

You just have to "activate it" by defaulting it as the sound output in your playback devices first. Then open up/go to whatever you want to watch (if there's no sound, close the program and re-open it and you will definitely have sound to your TV).

VGA to component doesn't work since component TV signal is in CYM color space and VGA is in RGB color space. You need a converter box to go from VGA to component video.

I'm actually curious about this too. I tried to connect my P-7811fx to my HDTV 42" plasma and the screen was not formatted properly. I used an HDMI to HDMI cable. What did I do wrong? Did I just have the wrong resolution picked? What should the proper resolution be set to on my laptop for a 42" Plasma TV?
