Taking the MX7515 Back

After almost two weeks of fighting with this thing - It's going back and I'm getting something different. While being lured into it by the specifications - it's not all that meets the eye. There are serious problems with the USB implementation which limit the usage of this system drastically.

The SD Media card slot performs at a rate of USB 1.1
The USB ports do not recognize specific devices and fail down to USB 1 levels - and in some cases corrupt data - I've yet to confirm that my hard disk external would have been corrupted by this computer - but the thought has crossed my mind several times.

When speaking with Gateway, they told me that the laptop was functioning fine, and if I wanted to run "Fast Transfer" devices - to get a cardbus USB2 expansion card.

No thanks.

Sorry gateway, I intitally thumbs down'ed your product after watching my girlfriends fall apart, but gave you another chance. Now you've ruined it completely and my voice will travel far.

I am sad to see that someone was not fully satisfied with their 7515. I hope that you have better luck with your next laptop, and maybe someday consider coming back to Gateway. Happy shopping.

 

mine works just dandy, my usb is good, it noticed my surround sound headphones the minute i plugged them in... ur could be just a defect, I just got my second MX7515 3 days ago because last one I had only had a defective screen and I though at first "wow gateway sucks," Now I got another one, picture perfect!" try getting one more, especially with best buy, if this one doesnt perform properly eaither, than if its within 14 days like they did for me I got a replacement, even though I already have the 500 3 yr sevice. I say give it a second chance urself, just because ur g/f had a problem, hers could be older I dont know, but it doesnt mean it'll happen again, Im mad happy with mine, at least this graphics card and chipset swtill work lol, I had HP for a year and chipset and Video card went out and meleted, I was like WTF! How does that happen I never heard of that happenning before, wow HP sucks lol.. All I'm sayin s give it onemore chance for yourself and if you still arent satisfied like I said within 14 days tuen it back and say" Hey This lapto sucks, I want that one" ok haha. Have a good night and think about it.

 

I've got 3 days before my 14 days ends, and I'm already on my second MX7515.

I like the box - just not the USB implementation..

We'll see what Futuershop offers me.

 

Al the USB devices that I tried (wireless adapter and mp3 player) worked perfectly. Maybe you just got a dud. Try your USB devices on the demo at the Future Shop.
