Hello, all,
Just bought a Zalman NC2000 cooler and am very pleased with the results, as my temperatures for both core and hard drives have dropped fairly dramatically, from the high 40's-low 50's to the low 30's-low 40's (Celsius). My GPU temps never were an issue, but don't seem, overall, to have changed much, ranging around 44-47C during light use. They have gone as high as 61C a couple of times, for no apparent reason, but that's been for only a few seconds at a time, according to SpeedFan and HW, so I haven't been too concerned.
What is of some concern are my TZS0 and TZS1 temps... they routinely range into the 50+C range, often as high as 57C, and that's when in idle or with pretty light use (surfing and the like, or playing very mild games like Solitaire). These temps apply whether I've got the fan running fairly low or a bit higher, and with the exception of a note to "watch" my Load Cycle Count (below average at 94, when the average is 95-100), SMART says my hard drive is fine.
Are these temps for TZS0 and 1 "normal"? SpeedFan showing me the little flame, but I've read elsewhere that it tends to be a conservative when it comes to defining "high" temps. If this is somewhat in the normal range, then I will ignore it.

Assuming that you're using stock settings and parts, your CPU should idle bellow 35C-40C. It would make sense to read higher temperatures if you're placing the laptop on a surface that dissipates heat poorly. Have you used a can of air to clear out the vents?
I also use the same cooler and my P8400 CPU idles at 22C-24C and when on light use around 28C-35C. While gaming at 1920x1200, it would hit 47C max. All these temperatures are reported while the laptop rested on the cooler with the NC2000 fan not running.
SpeedFan often reports incorrect readings. I suggest using RealTemp to find the true temperatures. -

However, has anyone else had the problem of all the type going wonky in Firefox 4? It started when I installed and woke up RMClock after making the suggested changes in the sticky. Now, all the typeface shows up as little boxes with numbers in them. All of them. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox, but to no avail. I'm currently getting on the site through Chrome (and IE is also fine), but I need Firefox for some of the plugins. They make business go a great deal more smoothly.
Anyone have any ideas?
EDIT: This is definitely being caused by RMClock. I restarted the computer, and Firefox was fine. But when I turned on RMClock, then exited and re-entered Firefox, the typeface was once again all wonky and can only be fixed by restarting the computer (I tried logging off and on).
I'm going to hunt up an older version of RMClock and see if the same issue applies. Running Win7 Ultimate x64, by the way. The only changes I've made are the screen (from 1440x900 to 1920x1200) and the addition of a second hard drive (500GB).
AND YET ONE MORE EDIT: I happen to have the previous version of Firefox, so I "downgraded" to it. It works fine, even with RMClock turned on.
Go figure.
