I was reading around about people putting in the X9000 in their Gateways, but they were also using the X7800 & X7900! I was thinking about the X7800 cause it can OC to 3.0GHz, but I probably wouldn't even go that high! Anyways, if I was to OC it to maybe 2.8GHz, how well is it with Battery Life? And what about heat issues? Is there another thread, or has anyone had issues with heat with a new CPU?

Why don't you just get the X9000? Battery life is better, it comes at 2.8GHz stock, goes to over 3.2GHz, its 45nm technology, has a larger L2 cache and SSE 4.1 instructions, and it is guaranteed compatible with the P-6831FX and most other systems. Why run the risk of killing your laptop on older technology anyway (X7800 killed many laptops, including a Toshiba X205 which is compatible with the X9000). The X9000 should put out less heat, and nobody with 17" notebooks appears to be complaining about heat output from the X9000. They cost a lot, but not as much as getting a new notebook after you kill it with an X7800.

There's a few users using the X7800 in their P series. Check with them.
