    The stock 320gb Drive in the 7805U seems pretty loud

    when booting, and other times....is there an alternative (non ssd) that's a bit quicker and quieter. SSD is a bit cost prohibitive right now and i'd rather not sink all my cash into one of those. I could probably get 2 large faster drives for the cost of one 128gb SSD.

    Wouldnt be faster than the SSD... would actually be an order of magnitude slower :)

    Before my swap to SSD i was running 2x 500gb WD hard drives. I enjoyed them and i very rarely heard a peep from them. Quite snappy drives as well for a spinner

    i was thinking of 2 500gb though just meant a bit faster than the drive that's in there (i guess there's no 2.5 velociraptor's available)......i'll probably check in to those or hope 128gb SSD goes on sale for a really good price.
