Hi everyone, my 7807 should be arriving in 2 days and i'd like to change the thermal compound to ICD7. Anybody know if changing thermal compound will void the warranty or not? If not, I'll just go ahead to order the ICD and cleaner.
    Thanks a lot

changing the thermal paste will technicality void the warranty, but if you have to RMA , just change it back and nobody will know as longs as you dont mess things up.

The Memory and the HDD are the only parts that are user upgradable without voiding the warrenty as long as you don't break any seals.

Thanks for the reply. I guess you mean there are stickers on that right? How hard is it to take the heat sink off without messing up the sticker?

Dont forget there's like a barcode sticker that runs on top of the processor.. Dont forget to stick that back on if you do decide to update the thermal paste. Just a heads up.

The sticker just peels off and is easy to put right back on, that is if yours comes with one which I am sure it will..

Be careful with that sticker. Mine was secured to the PCB pretty good, and I just left it on there because I didnt want to take the chance of ripping it.

I upgraded to a P9600 so that sticker is not a real issue.

did you remove the sticker from the old processor? I looked at it and gave it a little tug....to me it looked to be pretty well stuck to the PCB......honestly, there is no real need to remove it...its only affixed to the processor silicon, not the processor and the board.

No, it is still there, I put it in the container the new CPU was shipped in.

Yeah, thats exactly what I did.....you'd think they would use the sticker to attach the CPU ot the mainboard PCB (To prevent people from changing out the CPU, etc)....I'm not complaining, but the way its affixed makes little sense.
