I am looking for a new laptop and would like to get back into gaming some. I think these Gateways look to be the best bang for the buck, sorda like a Corvette. Anyway, should I order the one from New Egg, I believe the 7801 or get the 7805 from best buy. What are the major differences.

Also, when will the next model come out? I heard it might have Bluetooth capability and I would like to take advantage of that. Everything I own is bluetooth. I would wait for it if they are going to release a model which has it.

Any help is appreciated. I am pretty new to this.

If I get it, I think I would also like to upgrade the processor to the best possible at the time right away as well. Is that difficult?

There are a good many threads on both your questions.

The only difference between the 7805 and the 7801 is the screen. http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=346649 The 801 always comes with 1920x1200 and the 805 sometimes come with 1920x1200 but also 1440x900.

In terms of what's coming out from the FX series there's a quad core on the way... http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=347866

Who knows? It uses the same graphics card as the other P-78's and the quad core they put in it is honestly bottom rung. The cost of upgrading would be substantial! Cost wise you'd get way more bang for your buck to get a p7801/805 and throw a p9600 t9600 or t9800 in there.

I agree...i read in that thread about a DIY bluetooth...no chance you know where that thread is do ya? I think I might snatch up a 7801 and do the upgrades, if I need them.

What do you think of the systems speakers? Should I get a headset?

I'm pretty positive newegg doesn't use them and neither really does bestbuy.

You aren't getting the laptop for less than whatever their sale prices are (unless you got one off ebay for less).

I've been doing as much reading on this machine as I can in one night...a few more questions for yall

What is the Deal with the Video Card drivers? Will they come loaded or not?

How hot does this thing get? I am an airline pilot and am constantly on the move. I think this thing will fit in my flight kit based on the measurements listed on the website which is good; but I dont want to carry alot of extra crap like a cooling machine on the road. If I set it on a desk will it overheat and shut down or anything weird?

Video drivers are installed, but there are customized/optimized drivers circulating that have been well received in the community.

Just prop the back of the lappy up when in use and it will stay cool enough.

Keep your AC brick handy and think about upgrading to the Targus power supply (180W vs. 120W stock) as it runs cooler.

Drivers are loaded but they are older. You can update to more recent one's from Nvidia or XFastest or DOX, etc.

Temps shouldn't be much of a problem as long as you aren't in an extremely hot place and running intensive applications for a long period of time.

Ill be getting the 7801 soon...would the Core 2 Xtreme chips (x9000) run hotter or cooler than the stock chip. I read they are 44w which makes me think they will get really hot since the 35w chip gets hotter than the 25; however, I read they run cooler? Could this be? Can you increase performance and have it still run cooler?

If you undervolt the chip, you can decrease temps quite a bit without sacrificing performance.

Also, if your in the US Air Force, I'd like to talk to you bout a couple things if you don't mind.
